Want to fight human trafficking in your community but don't know where to start?
You're in the right place! Dr. Sandie Morgan, Director of Vanguard University’s Global Center For Women and Justice has two powerful options for you.
The first is an online Anti-Human Trafficking certificate program that will help you develop new skills and build expertise in the area of human trafficking to update your professional profile, broaden your knowledge base, and keep up with the changes in your field.
This program is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of anti-trafficking efforts. The courses are aligned with best practice models following the 4 P’s model of Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnership adopted by the US State Department’s Office to Combat and Monitor Trafficking in Persons. Taught by experts in the subject matter, these five courses provide individuals and professionals with the knowledge base to identify roles, best practices, and strengthen community efforts to combat all forms of human trafficking and exploitation.
The second option engages the faith community in your area to come together to stop trafficking. Dr. Morgan has launched Care68 Network to equip churches with resources and a welcoming community for inspiration, learning, and collaboration.
Dr. Morgan named the program CARE68 Network because C.A.R.E. stands for Collaboration, Awareness, Response, and Education. The 68 in the name is inspired by a Bible scripture from the book of Micah, chapter 6, verse 8, ”Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.” CARE68 Network intends to build the community to do it.
Included in the CARE68 Network program are:
- Access anti-trafficking toolkits and other resources to quickly get your program started.
- A safe and private online community for deep learning and discussion so everyone can be fully informed in new ideas and best practices.
- Connection with others in the local community and region to multiply your effectiveness and reduce wasted effort.
- Stay up to date with anti-trafficking news and upcoming events. When there's an important issue, we'll keep you in the loop.
If we want to make a difference in the lives of young people who are vulnerable to trafficking, let’s keep these four principles in mind:
Collaboration is a key to getting things done more efficiently, more expediently and more effectively. Set aside differences and join together to make a meaningful difference
Awareness is the starting point and essential to building a team and attracting interest. Raise awareness with the people within your influence.
Response is necessary if we want to actually see change. Notice what works and what doesn’t.
Education is the foundation. Without educating ourselves we shouldn't even begin to plan or act. When we rush in to help without first understanding the issues, we can do harm.
